Not Many Experts

It is a widely accepted fact that 2008 was the year when MGMT, and in particular, “Kids”, took over. At the end of last year, Pretty Much Amazing was telling all of the fluoro-legwarmer adorned hipsters to buy “Time To Pretend”, “Electric Feel”, and this other song, “Kids”, if they had enough spare change. A year later, and what has changed? Well… “Kids” is now the soundtrack to a countless number of montages, including BBC’s Sports Personality of the Year, and it received the single best response of any song at the summer’s festivals. It is fitting, then, that after a ridiculously long wait, there are two equally fantastic remixes available.

OK… OK, I know I have put off posting the Soulwax remix of it for absolutely ages, but back in the days when everybody was salivating over a 120kbps version of the song, I just couldn’t find anything to get excited about. After a lot of digging around though, I have found a 320 kbps version of the song, and it sounds fantastic! Everybody is going mad over it… many are calling it the best remix of the year, some say it is the best thing since Hitler committed suicide, and others thing that it’s more desirable than Mugabe resigning and the end of the credit crunch… PUT TOGETHER. Personally, I just think it’s a bit of a banger.

One criticism I do have of the Soulwax remix, though, is that it doesn’t really put that cheesy synth line to good use, which is why I think that The Pet Shop Boy’s Edit is so much better. It really is one of the best remixes I have heard all year, and it deserves all of the attention it is getting on hypem.com. I know that these remixes are becoming more common than a government-funded bank bailout, but I just thought I would put my opinion on them out there, as well as forcing anybody who has not yet got these songs to stop being such a fucking hipster and download them!! Thank you.
