Lambs Anger: Sort Of, Half Of A Review!

(If you were wondering why I have reposted three posts- it’s because I have just got a new host that works, and the links in all these posts now work!)

Mr Oizo… How to possibly introduce such an extraordinary guy?! Simply put, he is a blatant mentalist French 40-something DJ with Ed Banger who was making “Ed Bangerish” noises whilst I was still a little mainstream tween watching World Cup 98. I really would like to see what goes on inside his head one day… his trains of thought must be absolutely crazy. Fortunately, insanity aside, Mr Oizo is a surprisingly reliable producer of fantastic music, and his latest full length “Lambs Anger” goes someway to restoring the failing Ed Banger name in harsh electro-head circles.
“Lambs Anger” is no masterpiece, but it’s a fantastic patchwork of a thousand different musical styles. Predictably incoherent, the album veers from the dark bass of “Hun” to the breezy funk of my album highlight, “Jo”. Although not genre defining, “Lambs Anger” is essential just for the diversity of dance music on offer. It must also be noted that when Mr Oizo nails it, like he does on “Jo”, “Z”, “Cut Dick”, “Rank”, “Positif” and “Gay Dentists” (according to moi) he really makes an impression. The real disappointment that if he had bothered to cut away the deadwood, eg the deplorable “Bruce Willis Is Dead”, this could have been a great album.

Mr Oizo – Jo
