New Little Boots, Simian Mobile Disco & Distribution Method!
If anyone asked (not that they would), I think I would have to admit that this blogging business is a bit difficult really. Not because of the time factor, (although it does take an unimaginable amount of time just to post a few songs) or the money (although if you could click a few ads and make me a rich man, that’s also cool…), nor is it the idiots who criticise reviews (although I would like dump tackle them). No… the real problem for bloggers today is the law. I would have to say that blogger.com, my host, takes down about a third of my posts because record companies etc etc complain to them. There was also that story a few years ago of someone being pursued in court for leaking Guns N Roses material on his blog; even I was blasted for leaking some MSTRKRFT and received a scary e-mail from a lawyer. Now… blogger.com are absolutely unmanageable, so I am moving to my own domain very soon, but this means that I would be liable for everything I post, putting myself in a pretty susceptible situation. Luckily… I have found the answer to all of these problems in one simple tool…
iMeem.com!!! Credit to Luis @ PrettyMuchAmazing.com for introducing me to this; it allows me to stream the newest, most unreleased and most illegal music without allowing you to download it. Of course, this might not seem great for you, but these are songs that I wouldn’t be able to post otherwise, so it’s better than not hearing them at all!
The first song that I am going to be trying out on you with iMeem is right up there with Phoenix’s “1901″, tussling for my coveted (sic.) approval as “Song Of The Year”; Little Boots’ new single! It’s called “New In Town” and is due out in May. Well… You can tell after one listen that it’s going to be brain munchingly enormous, and it’s not because it’s a rip off of a great song, or tits-in-your-face-obvious like most popular music. It’s because of the dreamy synths, the carefully layered build up, that HUGE chorus… and, of course, the hype. However, here we don’t have a song that’s going to shift a lot of units solely because of the hype; in this case, Little Boots’ hype is just going to act as a medium for persuading hundreds of thousands of people to buy what could well be the perfect pop song, and that’s a phrase I haven’t had the pleasure of overusing in quite a while.

Simian Mobile Disco are the kind of band that just force you to ask the question; why don’t people like albums like this anymore? Thankfully, they are back with new songs “Synthesise” and the erratically titled “10,000 Horses Can’t Be Wrong”, promising a new album later on this year. Anybody else in love with 2009?
