As if my day couldn’t be going swimmingly enough – just look at how good that picture is! What an absolute find. Why is my day going so spectacularly? Well if you log on to elbo.ws and scroll right to the bottom… expend a calorie clicking on Top Blogs Rankings (or something of that ilk), you will see that Not Many Experts is #1. I’m not quite sure how it happened, all I’m sure of is that NME has full marks for quality, quite a few peeps nip along to read it every now and again, and, as a direct result of this nipping along, I am KING OF THE WORLD!! Maybe not… but it’s still pretty encouraging. Furthermore… Not Many Experts’ own, independent and very sexy website is tumbling down the pipeline towards your browser very quickly…
To celebrate, here are a few tracks from dance/dubstep sensation Moderat, who release their second LP on 15th May. The endlessly original minds of Modeselector (noisy dance music to takes drugs to) and Apparat (quiet dance music to take slightly less illegal drugs to) combined have combined to produce not only an unfalteringly original and surprisingly coherent dub step album, but also the fantastic name “Moderat”. Their genius never fails to amaze me… What? They just mixed their two bands’ names together? Right… well the album is still near faultless. Even Pitchfork think so. And they only like music that’s played on a set of logs of varying density of bark. “Moderat” may borrow heavily from Burial (see “Rusty Nails”), but seeing as I’ve waited for the past 2 years waiting for a new Burial album, how could that possibly be a bad thing?
