The first time was over a year ago supporting Fight Like Apes and they were a bit amateur, but now their sound is becoming more strident an their performances more engaging. As you say with their current sound they are never going to bother the charts but their sound is nonetheless quite darkly enchanting. I’ve seen Esben and the Witch play several times now (a couple of which I reviewed on my blog) and they are improving as a band each time I’ve seen them play.
