Umm... as for the conversion to law - that is what I'm currently doing. From friends who have done law at uni to those with me doing the GDL and LPC/BVC I would say do a degree you enjoy at uni and do the conversion. It will take a year longer (so funding may be an issue esp. as you don't get a student loan for the conversion), but the actual law degree is pretty dry. Each to their own though.
