We Have Band: New Single & Debut Album
As if you hadn’t noticed, London trio We Have Band quickly became one of our favourite prospects for the future after two or three immaculate singles early on in their gestation. If we’re going to be honest (and we really are going to be) they did actually promise us that “the album will be out in 2009”, but what they lack in honesty they make up for with a strain of dark synth pop that they may have just managed to twist into one of the finest debuts this year, if the half of the album that we’ve heard is anything to go by. It’s not 2009, but debut album “WHB” (does that count as self-titled?") will be dropped onto a widely unsuspecting public on April 5th.
You can’t accuse their tardiness with the album release on laziness though; the band have been one of the busiest touring bands in 2009, and are setting out again this month on a tour that stretches out into July, here are the most imminent dates that you need to get yourselves along to:
26th, March 10
-
Kill Em All @ Coalition (Tickets)
- Cardiff, UK
- 28th, March 10
-
Cardiff Arts Institute (Tickets)
- Birmingham, UK
- 31st, March 10
-
Hare and Hounds (Tickets)
- Manchester, UK
- 1st, April 10
-
Sound Control (Tickets)
- Liverpool, UK
- 2nd, April 10
-
The Kazimier (Tickets)
Obviously no strangers to adversity, they’ve also decided to release new single “Divisive” on 22nd March, which you can listen to below. If nothing else, it’s going to be really interesting to see how these releases fare commercially. There’s little doubt that We Have Band are exceptionally talented and don’t exactly find putting together music particularly difficult, but they have managed to get a lot of exposure, without quite becoming a “buzz band” or being overhyped… However, if truth be told, this might actually have a really positive effect on the album and we might end up with an honest and original record that wasn’t poured over by A&Rs and tweaked until positive that at least 50% of the songs could be playlisted by Radio 1. Only time will tell.

Well I personally like the album, it’s nice but not as great as I hoped it’d be. Could well be the Goulding-effect though?
PS. Massive love and thanks for the favicon, shows up great in my Firefox now

Jury’s still out on that one, but I’m definitely not disappointed with it! Can’t quite remember the track name, but the final track punches pretty hard. Vaguely disappointed that almost all of the tracks we have already heard were included, though, good as they are.
No problem about the favicon, was something I needed to do sooner rather than later.
