Lo-Fi // Son D’été

Words: George Mills

So, it’s pretty much settled then.  With highly anticipated releases from Beach Fossils and The Drums now out there, and some pretty fantastic stuff on the way from artists like Cloud Nothing and His Clancyness the soundtrack to the Summer of 2010 looks to be almost certainly dominated by the resuscitated Lo-Fi movement.  I for one am not complaining.  There’s something romantic in the construction of the music, the rejection of today’s crisp-cut clean production techniques, the fuzzy warmth of the riffs, that I can’t help having fallen back in love with.  It would be silly for me not to share with you some of the brilliant noises being conceived by the above artists, so here is to them, and indeed the sound of the summer.
