The Blog Sound of 2013
So yesterday the longlist of the Blog Sound of 2013 was announced. Last year I felt the need to preface the list with a justification of the existence of the longlist itself, but now I don’t really see the need for that; anything that is drawing attention to new music should be encouraged, and that this year’s Blog Sound longlist contains so many exciting new artists is just an added bonus. Admittedly, none of the five artists that I wrote about made it to the list, which only highlights the variety in tastes between bloggers, and the strength of new music at the moment. Despite my five highly superior acts not making the longlist, though, there’s some incredible new music to be mined here that may come to define your year. The final results will be published on the 3rd January, when I will also divulge the inspirational acts which I spent my votes on. Unsurprising hint: one of them shares a name with a high street retailer…

[...] It’s hard to believe that after 8 years The Neighborhood is still unsigned. Either they take being an indie band really seriously, or every publisher on the planet is fatally stupid. (via Not Many Experts) [...]
